For the record, this is the first seagate drive that has ever failed me. I have had two western digital drives crash on me

That's never good.

I've not had anything but the best luck with WD myself. Seagate's are good but the software part sucks if you run HFS+ but other then that great stout drives had a few before.

Now I'm on an iomega and in love with it already.

Think anything can be saved?

yea windows is still running. Im doing their system image right now so i could use that to get my info back. Once this is done im going to shut the computer down until i talk to newegg about my options.

All hard drives die it's only a matter of time. Learn to accept and prepare for it. Sounds like you got lucky and your data is fine, that almost never happens.

Like Brandon said, they are designed to last for about 5 years. Backing up data is key.

this drive is 6 months old..............

And just like if a car blows up at 10,000 miles you get a new one free of charge
